On November 11, 2016 we lost John Barry Rose at the young age of 15 to a fatal car accident. Since that time, his parents and family have been driven to give back to other rodeo children in his name. They currently give annual scholarships in John Barry Rose’s name by profits from the sale of John Barry Rose patches and gracious donations from others. Currently they have set a goal to raise enough money to give to every senior member in Oregon High School Rodeo that will graduate in 2020, the same year John Barry would have graduated. This is a huge undertaking and a milestone. The giving won’t stop there, they look forward to having enough funds to award scholarships for many years ahead.

The John Barry Rose Memorial Invitational Ranch Rodeo has been put in motion to help achieve this goal. It will be an annual event, open to a selected amount of 12 teams compromised of competitors that either knew John Barry personally or were acquaintances through rodeo. The teams will be made up with at least one member of each team being under 18 and at least one member of each team being over 40. This is to make the event more family oriented. The main goal for this event is not just to have a competition, but to raise substantial funds for a great cause.

Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 every year as a contribution to the scholarship fund.
