NEWS RELEASE – May 7, 2007
Free Admission at the 2007 Crook County Fair was a key decision made during the April 19th, 2007 Crook County Fair Board meeting.
In its regular monthly meeting the Fair Board voted unanimously to require no gate admission fee for all five days of the 2007 Crook County Fair, scheduled for August 8th through the 12th.
Larry Smith, Board Chairman, said that “this is an important step for us in an attempt to make the Fair open and available to everyone in Central Oregon. We have been discussing this move since last November and the entire Board favors free admission.”
Fair manager Patrick Wood stated this morning that “this sends a positive message that the Crook County Fair is shaping itself to be the county fair where anyone can come and enjoy our community. The goal for the Fair this year is to open our doors and make this an affordable experience. There’s no reason not to visit us this year. Free parking and free admission? Where does that happen anymore? We are very excited.”
The annual Crook County Fair is scheduled for August 8th through the 12th. The 2007 Fair theme is “There’s Country in the Air at the Crook County Fair.”

NEWS RELEASE – March 4, 2008
The Crook County Fair Board in partnership with Crook County 4-H and FFA have selected the 2008 Fair theme. “We want Ewe at the Crook County Fair” will be the central theme for this years Fair being held August 6th through 9th.
Over the last few years the Fair board has supported a program where 4-H and FFA members can submit themes for the upcoming Fair. All themes are submitted, a vote is taken by the members and the top three are submitted to the Fair Board for their selection.
“This has been a well received program and reflects annual themes that have a sense of community. So successful that the Fair Board is considering expanding the program to the entire community and announcing the following year’s theme at the conclusion of the annual Fair”, stated Patrick Wood, Fairgrounds Manager.
Over the winter the Fair Board and key volunteers have been meeting and planning the 2008 Fair. Working from the success and momentum of the 2007 Fair where admission was free and attendance doubled from prior years, the volunteer base has tripled. “It’s fun again to volunteer and work at the Fair” states Cheryl Sundet, volunteer coordinator for the 2007 and 2008 Fair.
